Ending Slavery: Bringing Heaven to Earth

slavery2

I wanted to share a great video I saw on CNN yesterday.  Christians, particularly young people,  raising awareness and making a stand against the the blight of slavery which still runs rampant across the globe.

Anything “Christian” in the news these days tend to be a non stop barrage of the church’s dirty laundry.  So much so that many Christians have begun to shun the “label”.  It was refreshing to see a piece showing disciples of Christ engaged in activities that fulfill our Lord’s prayer when he asked that God’s ways would be on Earth as it is in Heaven.

In the “Age to Come” that Jesus frequently mentioned we can pretty much assume slavery and the exploitation of men, women, and children will no longer be part of the “system”.  Anything working toward bringing about the conditions of “the Age to Come” where Christ’s reign will be fully manifest has to be one of our driving passions as Christians.

In the video clip I love the tower of light that is seen to be piercing the darkness. A couple posts ago I mentioned a verse in John’s gospel about Jesus being the light that was not received well because it exposes darkness.

Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

John 3: 19-20

The first step to ending darkness is to expose it!  Kudos to this group of Christians for helping to bring Heaven to Earth!

P.S. If you would like to learn more about slave trafficking and what you can do to help stop it I can recommend iEmpathize.  I know Brad Riley who founded iEmpathize and have been inspired myself by his passion to see the blight of child trafficking ended.  You can learn more by clicking here
