Episode 059: Sinners in the Hands of a Loving God with Brian Zahnd (pt.1)

Hi Pilgrim,

Tammy and I were so privileged to have Brian Zahnd back on Beyond the Pale with us. Brian and his wife Peri had joined us back in episode 34 to talk about their own 500 mile pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago.  This time Brian returns to talk with us about some of the more challenging themes raised in his new book Sinners in the Hands of a Loving God.

Themes like Old Testament violence, hell, who killed Jesus, and the what the Book of Revelation is really

Brian Zahnd

telling us.

The book’s title being is of course a play on, and more so a contrast, to the famous sermon by Jonathan Edwards Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.  But rather than a angry God who views you like a lowly spider dangling over the fire like Edwards suggests, Brian reveals a God who is rooted in compassion and mercy for his creation.

A God who looks like Jesus!

As Brian often says, God is like Jesus.  God has always been like Jesus, there has never been a time when God was not like Jesus.  We haven’t always known that…but now we do.

Get ready to go beyond the pale with Brian Zahnd.

Buen Camino,

Steve & Tammy
