Weekend Update: Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Episode

Ok, a little off topic to give a Weekend Update shout out to Doctor Who which will air its 50th anniversary special episode this evening in 94 countries simultaneously at 19:50 GMT.  Yes, that means 3:50 AM here in Hong Kong but as BBC Entertainment will replay it at a more respectable 7:30 PM that evening, we’re saving our Hackman Household Doctor Who watching party until then!

Lets face it, even if you have no idea what Doctor Who is about or what all the fuss is for, you have to at least check out a show so iconic that even  Google has paid tribute to it on its search engine today.

For those of you not acquainted the story, Doctor Who involves a man not from this world who takes the name “The Doctor” because he cares about mankind and wants to stand alongside us to make things right…. all while traveling about through time and space. (Coincidentally though he does spend an inordinate amount of time in London)

Along the way he teaches those he encounters about compassion, friendship, forgiveness, and mercy.

Sounds a lot like another guy who gets mentioned frequently at Beyond the Pale.  🙂
